Fulfilling an American Dream
Laboring as migrant workers on tobacco farms, earning a little over 90 cents an hour. That’s how Reinaldo (Rey) Lopez and his mother made a living after moving north from Puerto Rico in the early 1960s. Today, Rey is at the helm of one of the largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States. The company he started in the 1990s, Resource Management Inc., provides human resources outsourcing services and more to businesses across the country. RMI employs over 6,000 people and continues to expand its offices beyond its headquarters in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. And Rey’s children, Alex and Rachel, are poised to lead the business into the next generation. Steve Bruneau of Boston 128 Companies has provided financial strategies for Rey and his team throughout their extraordinary business journey. Central to those strategies is life insurance from Ameritas. In Rey’s words, “My family includes all my employees. I believe everybody deserves to achieve their goals. Building a field of dreams
Swampland. That’s what the Little League baseball facility in Weston, Massachusetts, was not too long ago. The community came together to transform this patch of land into a field of dreams for local youth – creating a place for them to play, compete, learn life lessons and thrive. Today the Weston Little League is a vibrant and positive part of the community. Over 50 teams were fielded last spring season, opening opportunities for involvement to more families than ever before – opportunities that have grown through the dedication of donors, board members, coaches and parents. Steve Bruneau is passionate about bringing a great growing experience to young people in his area through Little League. His financial practice, Boston 128 Companies, gave generously along with others to help build the new Little League complex. He has coached 38 teams in the space of nearly three decades. “My greatest reward is if one of my players sees me years later and says, ‘Hey, Mr. Bruneau, I played for you in Little League, and I just want you to know it was a good experience.’” Watch the video and learn more.
Three new therapy horses for kids in Massachusetts
The Lester A. Rosen Humanitarian and Achievement Award holds a special place of honor for Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. The namesake of this prestigious award was renowned as a great leader and giver within his community, the company, and the financial industry. The Rosen Award is now bestowed annually on an independent financial professional representing Ameritas who upholds Lester’s legacy and spirit. The recipient must have demonstrated both long-term dedication to their clients and long-term commitment to their community and the causes of humanity. This year’s recipient, Steve Bruneau, is a truly exceptional leader in every way. While building a highly successful financial practice, Steve has served his home town of Weston Massachusetts with remarkable dedication. He has coached over 38 Little League teams over 3 decades, helping build it from the ground up into one of the strongest youth development programs in the area. He served for years on the board of Weston Little League, and also on the board of the Waltham Boys and Girls clubs, where he has also been involved in building programs for positive development of youth. He has made life more fulfilling for countless young folks and their families through commitment to his community. Now, Steve is inspiring future generations of local leaders. Working with his peers from the Weston High School Class of 1971, Steve has established the Weston Reunion Fund. This nonprofit will provide a pathway for community giving from every Weston graduating class. As they approach their 50th reunion, each class will choose a mutually meaningful charity to receive a gift through the Weston Reunion Fund. Steve’s class is leading the way with a gift to a local Equestrian Therapy facility, Lovelane. The Rosen Award comes with a $20,000 grant to a charity of the recipient’s choosing. Steve asked Ameritas to direct his Rosen Grant toward his Weston Class of 1971 gift to Lovelane. Now, three new horses will be able to join the Lovelane team. Watch the video and learn more.
